Ben
So it seems people are starting to 'mine' the Kato Portram for its amazingly compact power bogies - to produce interesting models like this: http://www.rtmodels.co.uk/img_2375.jpg The Portram bogie could be handy for motorizing many things... But can we bring ourselves to dismantle a Portram for parts? How long till Kato sells the bogie separately? 1 Link to comment
Barobutt
Good god that's a tiny motor. And it's smooth? Link to comment
Ben
Well, it works very smoothly in the Portram - but that does have the benefit of two... Link to comment
Ben
Answering my own question - there is a part no. for the motor bogie on its own - 14801D1G http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/gag00706/49969320.html Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
The chip is probably to lower the voltage to max 4.5V, otherwise the motor will burn out. There are plenty of these small motors btw, the N-scale Faller car system uses them, and the small RC helicopters often use them as well. Pulling power is likely going to be terrible though ;) Link to comment
to2leo
OMG the possibilities are endless with this! I wonder if it will fit perfectly into a Tomytec Centram? I hope I can fit this into a Hong Kong tram model that I bought recently... Link to comment
