The KiHa 41000, original livery is black or brown? Some models depict it in black, others in brown

The color seen as black is actually a very dark brown, designated budou iro #1.  The lighter brown is budou iro #2.  Budou iro #1 was used on the kiha 41000 from prewar days until approx. 1955, when that color was phased out in favor of budou iro #2, which was introduced in concert with the introduction of the modern 10 series passenger rolling stock.
