The_Ghan
Gentlemen, You might have seen my thread on missing friends here: http://www.jnsforum.com/index.php/topic,4434.0.html. In an attempt to improve the chances of finding these people, I have checked every box of my Japanese "stuff". It is amazing how thoughtless I was when it comes to keeping envelopes. I could find none from the Ito or Inoue families. However, I did manage to find two from the Satoh family dated 1985. Chances of the family still living there are pretty slim, I think, but I must try. If anyone can translate the whole of this hand-written Japanese address I'd be grateful. Part of it is already translated. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Thanks in advance, The_Ghan Link to comment
Tenorikuma
The Japanese is exactly the same as the English. Yuko Satoh 7-32 Hamasuka, Chigasaki For what it's worth, Chigasaki is in Kanagawa prefecture, and anyone living there should be fine. Link to comment

Tenorikuma
Thanks. Can you confirm the address should appear as below? Can someone also confirm the post code please? Mrs Yuko Satoh 7-32 Hamasuka Chgasaki-Cho Kanagawa-Ken JAPAN 253 That should be: Mrs Yuko Satoh 7-32 Hamasuka Chigasaki-shi Kanagawa-Ken Japan The postal code is not valid. I think it may be from the old pre-1998 postal code system. (Perhaps the post office can figure it out anyway.) If you want to see that neighbourhood on Google Maps, it's here. Link to comment
The_Ghan
The correspondence dates from 1986 !!!! So, it is the old post code system. Surely there must be a way of looking up post codes in Japan. I stayed there for about 3 days in 1986. It was a freestanding house. Cheers The_Ghan Link to comment
The_Ghan
Further, I found a postcode - 2530035. Could this be correct? Is the address: Mrs Yuko Satoh 7-32 Hamasuka Chigasaki-shi Kanagawa-Ken Japan 2530035 I feel this might be it !!! Thanks in advance, The_Ghan Link to comment
Tenorikuma
That looks correct. (Note that you should include the hyphen, so the postal code is 253-0035.) Link to comment
