What is this livery called?

Recommended Posts

If I'm looking for a 485 in this livery (here shown on a "Kubikino" rapid service), what should I be searching for?

Looks like it's the "Kami-nuttari" livery.  I guess I've seen it before, but I didn't know the name, either.  Also was not aware of this rapid service.  According to Wikipedia, what is now Niigata Depot (Niigata Sharyo Sentaa) was Kami-Nuttari Depot (Kami-Nuttari Untenku) until March 31, 2004.  Kami-Nuttari is also a signal junction, and Nuttari was, from November 20, 1897 until March 25, 2010, a freight station.

edit: JR East has a lot of good liveries up there.

Interesting stuff--thanks!

Yeah, they have some of my favorites. Of course, they also have some hideous Miami Vice color schemes, but overall it's pretty good. :grin

Very cool, but dang that's expensive. I wish Kato would do that one.

Micro ace have more detail on their trains IMO especially in side.

I actually am becoming a micro ace fan and they do all the good trains no one else will touch

I agree, definitely more detail on Micro Ace. And on the whole, they're very nice trains and they do make a lot of trains others don't. But you do pay a premium for that. However, I think Kato makes better trains in a mechanical sense. My MAs tend to be noisier, and not run quite as smoothly at low speeds.

I did a comparison between a MA E231 and a similar Kato E231 a while back.
