miyakoji
Does this have something to do with 2 to the 16th power (on an index of 0)? I've seen EF65 535 mentioned before but I don't get what the big deal is. I don't really follow freight, though. Link to comment

bikkuri bahn
Apparently the EF65 535 gained popularity when it was converted back to its original JNR configuration, with no JR markings. Its cab front is the form of the original EF65's used to pull the fleet of Blue Trains on the Tokaido Line. But, there are even Japanese fans who don't understand the big fuss about the loco, however. Link to comment
Guest ___
I'm actually amazed how the Japanese will latch on to one locomotive. A few years ago I found myself in Omiya and there were no rail fans in site. Slowly they amassed on to the platform I was shooting from, and a few minuets later, EF66 9 appeared. And then just like that, they were all gone. I saw a few other EF66 class trains, but no one was around. Link to comment
keitaro
You know it's funny I've been to japan for a total of 13 months in the last 5 years and never seen a single freight train ... I have been all over the place to not just confined to osaka and tokyo. i figured when i was heading to takamatsu i would see one while driving from osaka past all the factories. and ports but nothing. Anyway I like the dd51 and next time go to jpn will be trying to hunt down the hd300 Link to comment
