While I've already uploaded quite a few shots from my trip to Japan in July 2009, I still have some interesting photos which I never got around to putting on my Flickr site.

 

As I've just joined the forum, I have a bit of a second wind, so here is the first new one for a while. I reckon this is possibly quite a good one for modellers:

Amongst my favourite multiple units are the classic Kiha 40s. These Akita-based units look especially nice:

Another one from a fantastic couple of hours in the sun at Tsuchizaki.

While I do like my Kiha 40s and 48s, this is the real reason I was there:

JR Freight DD51 B-2-B diesel-hydraulic No. 1184 pulls away from Tsuchizaki, Akita Prefecture, with an Akita-ko docks-Tsuchizaki yard transfer freight of containers on July 23rd, 2009.

JR East/East Japan Railways 485 Series three-car EMU No. 485-1002 Kamoshika (かもしか) limited express to Aomori @ Akita station, Akita-prefecture, Japan, July 23rd, 2009. This train has now been withdrawn and superceded by displaced 485-3000 Series sets working a new Tsugaru (つがる) service between the two cities.

Thanks for posting those pics.  Your subject matter agreeably matches my interests.  I see you visited that stretch of the Sanyo Main Line ("senohachi") out of Hiroshima to see the JRF pusher operations.  I plan to visit it myself this summer, which will be my second time (as well as a trip on the Kure Line, for mileage and hopefully to ride a 103 series).

West Japan Railways/JR West Series 700-7000 8-car ‘Hikari Railstar’ shinkansen No. E12 Hakata-Osaka service @ Himeji, Hyōgo prefecture, Japan, July 29th, 2009. After the iconic Series 0 units these are my favourite type of 'bullet train' unit.
