Serious German Train Crash

Just saw some English-language reports on a "head-on" passenger/freight train crash in Germany that killed at least 10.  From various reports it sounds like one train ran a red signal in fog and hit the other, although the photos don't look like a head-on, and there's a comment about one derailing first and then colliding.

It seems the freight train ignored two (!) red signals in succession.  I didn't know that some lines in Germany that carry passenger traffic are not equipped with automatic train stop.  In that sense it's like the U.S.

So, another accident caused pretty much directly by the fact that companies seemingly refuse to handle any sort of delays...
