bikkuri bahn
Old name is LFX-300 (too anonymous for America I guess), Kinki Sharyo is the builder. http://www.metro-magazine.com/News/Story/2011/01/Kinkisharyo-unveils-hybrid-streetcar-in-N-C-.aspx dedicated website, with some nice information: http://ameritram.com/ Link to comment
Guest ___
Horrible name. Seems like anything with the prefix Ameri tends to fail miserably. Link to comment

But these knee-jerk naming conventions seem to be the norm in the highly politicized American transit/infrastructure world. Link to comment
scott
Well, whatever it's called, it'd be great to see something like this spread to more cities. Seems like a good design. If I ever get to Charlotte (about 8 hours away by car), I'd like to check it out. Link to comment
Guest ___
I proposed the name here for our new bus system back in 1992 as Frederick Area Rapid Transit. I was shot down.It was felt that FART would be a bad acronym for the bus system. Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
Betcha it's quieter and smoother than that Skoda/Oregon Iron Works thing they're building out northwest. I liked the convenience of the Portland Streetcar but that thing is LOUD. Horrible screechy noises too, not the oldschool hum of a PCC. Link to comment
