E231 or similar undercarriage

Good question.  Despite lots of past searches for E231 info, I've never seen a photo or diagram of the underside of a real one.  But this motivated me to do some looking and I found a few photos of some of the details, as well as some associated info.  Some terms I used to search on were "JR東日本 E231 系電車" (JR East E231 Series Train), "E231系VVVF制御装置" (VVVF system controller E231) and "JR東日本 E231 駆動装置" (JR East E231 drive system).

An interesting page on "E231 parts":

Thank you very much, it was helpfull(i found even more using kanji names from those sites ). I got all the materials except front bumper/plate. Shape is tricky and photos are only from front(side pics from "engine house" are w/o bumper). I couldnt even find a good KATO model picture(nice detailed btw). Thx again.

Glad I could help.  If you found other interesting links, please post them here.  I'd be interested, and I suspect others would as well.

Is this model for a simulation program, or are you designing a physical model of a train?
