kmcsjr Posted January 2, 2011 Share Posted January 2, 2011 Guys, I'd like to convert the front car of my Kato commuter set to a Rapido. Does anyone have the proper PN and a vendor? It's an early 2000s 113-1500 set 10-195. Also, is there a Shafenberg that can directly replace a Rapido? Also, Also, are they robust? If I run a commuter with Shafenbergs, they look like they might be delicate... Thanks Link to comment
CaptOblivious Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 The Kato Scharfenbergs are very robust, yes. As for replacement trucks, your manual should indicate the part no. for ordering one. You ought to be able to simply order a truck w/Rapido coupler, and replace the existing front truck with it. May have to cut away at the skirt if it interferes, however. Kato makes Scharfenbergs to replace the Rapidos in the truck coupler-box, but there are two varieties of mounting style, and two colors, for a total of four possible part no's, but your manual will tell you which ones you should use.
