FrictionShifter
Hopefully a quick and easy question. Is there a DC converter to connect Tomix DC Feeders to standard power packs (such as Railpower, etc.)? Link to comment
David
By "standard" and "Railpower" I assume you are talking about power packs with plain old screw jacks or clips on the front? In that case a pair of wire cutters/strippers will "convert" a Tomix power cord. You could also spring 50 cents for spade connectors to attach your newly exposed pair of wires instead of just wrapping them around the terminals bare. Link to comment
brill27mcb
Or, for a purist, buy a Tomix 5813 Track Feeder Extension Cord http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10010013 and snip the end connector off of that, so your DC Track Feeder stays intact. In a way, that converts your power pack to the Tomix Neo cabling system. Rich K. Link to comment

I later regretted it as I ended up with an insanely long (and tangled) cord, and with other Tomix purchases I ended up with a pile of extra track feeder cables (the track feeder cable alone is cheaper for some reason, and it comes with a lot of track packs: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10009865) Link to comment
CaptOblivious
I snipped my feeder to wire into screw terminals. I later learned that standard 0.1" ptich male pin headers are a perfect fit, and that with a little soldering, making yer own eztension cable is nigh trivial. (0.1" pitch female headers are a perfect match for the other end if you want a cheap extension to a Tomix throttle, too) Link to comment
FrictionShifter
Thanks for the responses. I was hoping not to snip, but will likely take the suggestion of buying an extension cord to snip instead of the DC feeder itself. I'm a total novice with electrical issues. Happy New Year!
