gmat
Three different models for the same train service. Taken during the night of the last departures before the schedule changes and one is terminated. First 215 series, then the soon to be gone 185 series and last, the 251 series. New number. Departing. gmat
185 series. One the person in the foreground stayed to shoot the departure. From the back. I asked a maintenance staff to shoot my picture. Very nice of him. Thank you very much. Not very many passengers. The sole railfan left snapped my photo from the front. Running out of ways to shoot from the same platform. Best wishes, Grant Link to comment
gmat
Last 251 series. Much more passengers. I can see why the 185 service is being discontinued. Departing. Best wishes, Grant Link to comment
miyakoji
More great pics. In that first one, it's 7:11PM but the train doesn't depart until 7:30. I really like it when the train is at the platform but doesn't leave for a while, it's a good opportunity to get comfortable. Especially if bento is available. Link to comment
gmat
Thank you, Miyakoji. I have other shots like these, but must clear out my photobucket account so that I don't run out of space. Best wishes, Grant Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
If I was a Tokyo commuter, I'd really appreciate these services. A seat all the way home, maybe a tray table to place a snack or a drink after a hard days work, civilized. Sure beats standing in a crowded train or driving through traffic. Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
How is it that the SVO trainsets don't age? What is this magic youth-giving potion they're using and how can I get some? Link to comment
gmat
Sorry, But what is SVO in this context? Grant Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Super View Odoriko, the last train type in the series. Link to comment

Yeah, it's true the 251 series still looks very good. However, wikipedia says they were refurbished from December 2002 and March 2004. Link to comment
to2leo
I always ride the SVO when I am in Japan. I just love the design and even the trip itself is very enjoyable! Link to comment
