gmat
Last Sunday there were some changes to the Shinjuku South Exits. The old east exit closed and a new south facing exit opened. The new exit appears to be designed to generate more traffic thru the Takashimaya Times shopping area. The new concourse to the South Exit. The old steps down to the Narita Express platforms (5/6) has been sealed. The old South Shinjuku East Exit has been closed. The next South Exit. The new stairs down to the Natita Express platforms is to the left. Still has only one escalator that often goes the wrong way. The front of the new South Exit. Grant 2 Link to comment
miyakoji
So many of JR East's stations in the Tokyo area look like temporary structures! Perpetual construction! Link to comment
westfalen
So many of JR East's stations in the Tokyo area look like temporary structures! Perpetual construction! Tokyo station always seems to me as if they work their way from one end to the other rebuilding the place, then when they've finished they go back to the other end and start again. Link to comment
David
A few of those pictures don't contain a man in a railway uniform directing, saluting or standing at attention. JR East must be in financial trouble. Link to comment

The same thing can be said about Yokohama Station. The place seems to be perpetually under construction at one place or another- if not in the JR area, then one of the private railways. gmat
Ha Ha, David, but truthfully, there actually were a few more personnel standing at corners just outside of the pictures that didn't show one. Most of the photos were taken on Sunday, the first day the new exit opened. By today, there was only one left. Link to comment
Fat Al
I thought that the new exit is meant to be a temporary one, until they finish the bus terminal opposite of Lumine over the tracks... Link to comment
