So in Bill's Hikyou Eki thread, Bikkuri mentioned he's a Hakodate Main Line fan.  Well this is for you Bikkuri

The only other enka song I have any recollection of is one by that Kiyoshi guy in which he says something like "ore ha wakai tora" or something like that.  Tigers and Kiyoshi do not go together in my mind, but, whatever...

Thanks for that.  The song even describes the section I like (electrified portion) by its reference to the Ishikari Heiya, or Ishikari Highlands.  For me the ultimate enka song with railway references is Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki by Sayuri Ishikawa.  The description of getting off an (ex Ueno) night train at Aomori Station in the winter snow, before taking a ferry to Hakodate via the Tsugaru Straits, is a classic.  JNR once had a whole fleet of sleeper trains that departed for the north, before the advent of the Tohoku Shinkansen and the Seikan Tunnel.
