Akai Densya

Hi all,

I've been looking around on the JMRA website and found this ad of a relatively unknown company called Akai Densya (赤い電車): http://homepage1.nifty.com/akaidensya/anrail.htm Here it states an unmotorised model of the former Aizu RR KIHA 8500 is being released soon. Ths at only 3000 Yen, it's a bargain for such a rare model!

This company produces a small number of models, including the JR East E721-500 Series and it Sendai Airport counterpart, the SAT721 Series.

Motorised models are quite expensive from them and not very interestig IMO, apart from the Touwada Kankou RR MOHA3400: http://homepage1.nifty.com/akaidensya/mokei.htm

I'm not sure, but detailing looks to be okay for the price of 3000Yen: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/ichibankan/20100913/1284354303 Though the models could use some major improvements at some parts (e.g. front lights, unpainted underbody-parts). With some work they can surely be powered by a 20 meter Tomytec/Greenmax motor-unit.

Toni - does it say if you can get these at one of the online retailers? I have a Greenmax 20m motor unit going unused, so one of the E721s might be worth a try.

I think I saw models of Akai Densya at Yahoo! Auctions, so you have to get it through Japan Auction Centre or via a contact in Japan. I've unfortunately not seen them at the online retailers (yet).
