Saw it yesterday. One of two interesting visitors to a rainy Shinjuku Station, yesterday. People (about 10 or so) started hanging around the north end of Platform 7, even though the weather was drizzly. Then a 185 Odoriko for Izukyu-Shimoda pulled up and pretty much blocked the whole platform. When Shonan/Kusatsu 50th Anniv pulled up, there was a small group at the edge of the platform in the rain. I saw the driver of the Odoriko laughing at us. There was an even bigger crowd around the front of the train on Platform 5 all trying to get a snap.

The other was the Emperor's train/Joyful charter. When it pulled up, an Azusa also arrived and blocked the better view from the opposite platform. Lots of gnashing teeth there.

One reason, if you are in Japan at the start of a three day weekend (Sat. morning, 7:00-9:00 or in this case until 12:00) or a special holiday, to visit a big station in the morning.

Best wishes,

Grant
