bikkuri bahn
Pero, If you don't already have a copy, I highly recommend the monograph book "Kokutetsu Railbus sono shougai" (RM Library 7). I just bought a copy, and it has very nice b/w photographs and data, a good value for only 1000 yen. There is even a section on the antecedent DB scheinen(?) omnibus. Amazon Japan listing, you can preview the contents a little: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E5%9B%BD%E9%89%84%E3%83%AC%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AB%E3%83%90%E3%82%B9%E3%81%9D%E3%81%AE%E7%94%9F%E6%B6%AF-RM-library-%E5%B2%A1%E7%94%B0-%E8%AA%A0%E4%B8%80/dp/4873661943 Link to comment

bikkuri bahn
More good news: Neko Publishing has just released a monograph on the Nanbu-Jyukan Railway, part of their RM Library Series (#136). A quick browse at the bookstore revealed a very nice and detailed text, including track diagrams of some of the larger stations (many stations are just halts). blog entry: http://rail.hobidas.com/blog/natori/archives/2010/11/19.html Amazon listing (they are currently sold out, but will restock soon): a good value 1 Link to comment

Thank you very much for the very good news! I have contacted the publishers "Neko" and they were very friendly and helpful in finding a supplier in Germany. I have ordered the book an I am very much looking forward to receiving it. It'll greatly assist me in finding out more about this wonderful railway-line and hopefully, I will get some inspiration for my Trans-Southern-Railway-Layout. Thanks again! Link to comment
railbusgerman
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone here have an advice, how to get in contact with the guyz from www.ogaemon.com? I have mailed them a few times, because I'd like to purchase some of the souvenirs and books they have for sale, but unfortunately, they do not reply to emails . Regards Hi all! I have now tried almost everything possible to purchase some of the souvenirs that are on offer on www.ogaemon.com, I've contacted a Japanese import/export company here in Germany and they are unable to help me either. This is my very last attempt now, before I buy a ticket, fly to Japan and purchase those souvenirs personally at Shichinohe station . If there is any railfan in Japan who would order those items for me, have them sent to his/her address and ship them to Germany, I would be extremely grateful. Of course, I would send the money i.e. via Western Union transfer IN ADVANCE. You would do me a huge favour. Best regards railbusgerman Link to comment

Firstly, my impression of the publishers: I thought, that it would be very difficult to get hold of this book. I sent a fax to NEKO Publishing, asking for help. Within 24 hours I got a very friendly reply, resolving my problem and thus enabling me to purchase this book here in Germany. I find this book very good value for money. It contains only 47 pages, but they offer loads of information about this little railway. Many brilliant photographs, station diagrams, maps, timetables and statistics together with a detailed description of the history of the railway-line and its rolling stock told me a lot about the Trans Southern Railway. I am very glad to have this wonderful book in my collection. Regards railbusgerman Link to comment
railbusgerman
Hi all! For those, who might be interested in the model-railway of the Nanbu Jyukan Tsetsudo, here's a link to my Homepage: www.japanese-railbus.com The aim of it is a.) to tell the history of NJR b.) to show the actual progress of the model-railway. railbusgerman
Well, here we go, hope you enjoy it: The 6 by 1 metre layout of the Nanbu Jyukan Railway is on its way! Trains will start at Nohezi Station (on the left hand side of the layout, not yet started). As well as the NJR station, it will also feature part of the JR station, including wooden flyover. The centre-part of the layout will show the very rural landscape, including Tsubokawa halt. The trains terminate on the right hand side at Shitinohe station. Here are some more impressions (first runnings on the new layout): Goods train arriving at Shitinohe station with KIHA 104 departing shortly afterwards for inspection-run to Tsubokawa (the railway-line has been out of service since 1997, after all ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uArzhuZ0To Railbus KIHA 102 departing Shitinohe for Tsubokawa (sorry, but the railbus was running without "added weight", that's why I had to give resp. reduce power so abruptly): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8tpWayV48E KIHA 104 passing a level-crossing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPLf28PfFQw More pics: Link to comment
Tosaden
On my last visit at Japanmodelrailroad in Kamen (Germany) I saw a H0 model of the railbus. The railbus looks very similar to the german Railbus. Link to comment
railbusgerman
Yes it does. It's a mix of the West German VT 95 and the East German VT 2.09 Link to comment
westfalen
Was cleaning out a cupboard this afternoon to make room for more trains and found the timetable I picked up on my visit to the line in Nov 1996, with station stamp on the back. 1 Link to comment

railbusgerman
Hi! No, I hadn't seen those magnificient photographs as yet. Thank you for the link. By the way: I am completely shocked about the earthquake, the tsunami and the awful happenings at the nuclear power plants in Japan. To the Japanese forum users: I sincerely hope that you are okay and that your government is doing everything to help the injured and missing people. From the news here in Germany I know, that our European governments as well as many other countries have already sent humanitarian and technical/infrastructural help to assist the Japanese people. God bless you. Link to comment
railbusgerman
Hi all. I have seen on the net, that at some point, a manufacturer offered the Trans Southern DC 251 in gauge H0/00. Does anyone know if this engine, or indeed the DD 451, is/was available in N-gauge? Link to comment
