Jeff - Vending machines that light up?! Wow! I was thinking about Quinn's layout with the way he's used lights on it, the photo booth and the vending machines would look great on it. If the photo booth does flash, it would be an "eye catcher" for anyone viewing a layout!

BTW - How does this work and/or look like the Man-powered car?

Yeah, I saw that and wondered what a 'man-powered car' was ... Looks like it should be a rickshaw.

I like the look of some of this stuff...I can immediately think of an ideal location for vending machines that light up on our layout...

Edit: I can now see why they called it this...

'The word "rickshaw" originates from the Japanese word jinrikisha (人力車, 人 jin = human, 力 riki = power or force, 車 sha = vehicle), which literally means "human-powered vehicle".'

It was funny as about a week or so ago i started fiddling with smd leds to light up vending machines like this. been working on what to use for a simple frame for the machine as light leakage is big when you box up the led in a tiny box. getting the front (lit part) just the right density to glow like it does on the real machines also is a little fiddle, but looks easy to solve.

do think its going to be the best thing to light on the layout first as these are lit during the day and stand out in real life a lot (there is a purpose to doing that!) and i think they will pop nicely on the layout.

cheers

Those are really neat looking Vending Machines...they look a lot more fun than the versions I've seen on eBay.  I'm a bit hesitent about the 1/144 scale?  What do folks think....too little to matter? Its got to look just a little strange next to 1:160 buildings (and most of Kato's buildings are at least 1:160 if not 1:180 in some cases, at least from some of their stuff I have).
