cteno4
Pro hobby has a new twist, lit 12-31ft reefer containers! two little leds in them! it says they simulate running so i wonder if they may have rotating colors with bicolor led or some blinking sequence. 2 of them for $20-24 depending on container size. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10124394 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10124395 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10124396 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10124397 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10124398 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10124402 looks like they are also selling the lighting unit separately if you want to light ones you already own! http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10124403 they say only 3 hr practical continuous lighting. odd as i would expect the button cells to last way longer than that! a roll your own alternative to this would be to use the little 2 for a dollar led votive candles you can pick up at the dollar store. the orange/white led has a tiny flicker in it. it uses a larger dia 3v lithium which could be replaced by two smaller 1.5v button cells. little bit of time and like $2 and you could roll your own pretty easily, im going to have to try this one of those candles is sitting here right next to the keyboard and i just got a few Hogarakadou reefers last week! cheers jeff Link to comment
cteno4
ok these just showed up the lighted reefers are interesting, but i am a bit disappointed in the lights. they are constant, they do not flash as i thought they were going to. also the way the little light pipe works you can only see the light at about 20-30 degrees off the horizontal, so you dont see it unless you have the container near eye level. at around $10-12 ea they are not horrible for nice reefers like this with the light. they are about 1.5mm longer than other 40' reefers from Hogarakadou and just a tad thinner. you get a sheet of additional decals to detail the containers up more, but the containers have a good set of markings already applied. the coloration of the contaiers is all a gray to off white that is not painted, but the plastic color itself. also the non lighted containers also came out as well. basically the same containers just w/o the lighting kit and you have to put your own decals on them. the plain containers are nice. they are about 1mm wider than kato and tomix containers. nice thing that at $3 each you get a good selection of decals to use on them. to get ones like a yanmar is a lot cheaper than buying Hogarakadou at more like $8 ea! cheers jeff Link to comment

KenS
What are the lights supposed to represent? Is it a light on the refrigeration unit indicating its on, or a light somewhere on the container? It's been a while since I saw a refrigerated container, but I don't recall noticing any lights on them. Link to comment
cteno4
yeah i think its to represent the lights showing that things are operating properly. jeff Link to comment
