Amtrak being tough and fighting "terrorists", oops..., make that a railway photgrapher, ah...um...yeah...(check out Steven Colbert's comment at the end- LOL!

Today, I had a perfect day riding, watching, and photographing trains, thanks to the good service and common sense that prevails here in Japan

Taking photos of trains => getting arrested => getting paid $30.000. Sounds good to me.

The comment by Colbert at the end reminds me of a cartoon in Railfan & Railroad magazine not long after 9/11. It showed an airline passenger complaining they had taken his nail clippers so he couldn't hijack the plane and an Amtrak passenger who said they confiscated his watch so he wouldn't know how late they were.

They need to send some Amtrak employees to Europe and Japan to see thousands of people going in and out of stations without being harassed.

 

This is even worse than the time that we got hustled off the platform at DC Union Station because "it's not safe." Sheesh.
