rankodd
Hey, all! I'm looking for a cheap way to get some passenger coaches for my Blue Thunder locomotive. The Greenmax kits are perfect because I want to do something distinctly non-prototype. The set I'm looking at is a 5 car package: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10007357 The Greenmax webpages indicate that I need TR50 and TR47 bogies: 105 特急はつかり客車 2,940 5輛編成セット 台車TR50,TR47 Does anyone know if that means I need 5 of each, or if I have a choice between them? TR50 is sold out at Hobbysearch. Would anything else work? This isn't intended to represent a real prototype, so does it matter much which ones I order? Link to comment
KenS
Since each TR47 or TR50 pack holds a pair of trucks according to the photos on HS, I'd say you need five sets total. It would appear from the Japanese description (via Google translate) that the TR47 is an older design: "Vehicle Use: Passenger Rail Systems 43.44 General / Old Country DT14 (73 series, etc.), substitute" and TR50 is newer: "Vehicle Use: General Passenger Rail light weight 10 / 62.81 slot and squat carriage system" I'd say you can use either, it just depends on what era you are trying for in terms of appearance, and how you like the look of the two, since you said you weren't aiming to replicate a specific prototype. keiman
Word of warning, when you build them double check the glazing supplied, I got it wrong whenI built one of mine and fitted the clear instead of the frosted. You have to cut the clear/patterned styrene to suit the different windows. Link to comment

I won't trust those photos completely. Greenmax trucks are usually sold separately. HS lists them as "chassis". I have two other Greenmax kits and they didnt' include trucks. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/list/565/0/1 Here's an example. The photo shows trucks, but you can see the kit is a flat plastic bag without any trucks. I have this kit stashed away. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10007435a/20/1 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10007435a2/20/2 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10007435 Link to comment
