bikkuri bahn Posted June 22, 2010 Share Posted June 22, 2010 I wasn't aware of the interchange between Fujikyu and JR East at Otsuki, allowing for run through operations (you learn new things everyday about railways in Japan-and there's always much more). Apparently this operation celebrated its 75th anniversary this year(!). During weekends/holiday periods JR East runs 189 series trains to Kawaguchiko over Fujikyu tracks: (shot between Kawaguchiko and Fujikyu Highland) Poor quality, but here is the physical connection between the Fujikyu Line and the JR East Chuo Line at Otsuki, the train (a 115 series) transits the switch at about 1:21, leaving the Fujikyu line and entering the Chuo Main Line shortly thereafter: Link to comment
