Wind up trains

Recommended Posts

I have a handful of the wind up japanese trains i collected from the capsule machines in japan, but unfortunately not enough track to ever do a loop (i have a neat bridge i got in one!). anyone ever see the track for sale and where. Ive tried lurking ebay and even contacting some suppliers in hong kong that sell excess inventory on stuff like this, but no joy.

cheers

cute video of a guy getting one of the trains with a drink purchase (these look to be the same toys in the capsule vending machines).

Yes i have seen it termed capsule pla-rail before as well, but never a place to purchase. its basically tiny tomy pla-rail. sort of an n scale equivalent of the sort of ho pla rail.

perhaps it only ever comes in the capsules and you just have to keep spending lots and lots of 100Y (i think it might be up to 200Y now) coins to try and get enough track for a loop or such!

the other problem is that there are several varieties of these that i have seen and i actually have three different styles of track (all roughly the same) that i have gotten with different trains/capsules.

at least they make good phone toys by themselves...

yes this is very close to one set of track i have. the gauges are all slightly different, but the windup ones seem to all be very close and usually have a little grooves in the trough for the wheels to catch on (traction wheels usually have little grooves in them as well). the battery operated ones are a tad wider and dont have the traction grooves. i have like 3 battery operated trains (like 25% larger in scale) and a handful of the windups that i got from the capsule machines in japan.

Yujin does seem to be the manufacturer of all these pieces.

thanks, ill keep looking!

Yaaaaaay! a seller from taiwan is selling big sets of yujin capsule windups that also come with a bunch of track! had to buy a few. i have a few of these sets i have gotten from the capsule machines and also from a book/toy set that was given to me. not very expensive with free shipping actually! happy boy! happy boy! i also collect windup toys so this is a nice combo for me!

Is there anyone on here still collecting Capsule Plarail? I really like them, a lot of fun to use. Makes a nice change from using my Z gauge or N gauge layout.  :toothy10:

yep i still pick up one now and then when they come up on ebay. big problem is getting more track! i have a fairly good set of blue and black tracks from a few sets i picked up, but its limited. one girder bridge i got in japan as well and a couple of special pieces from the galaxy express. would love to get more but the few times you see pieces for sale they are like $1 ea!

ill snap some picts of the ones i have this week.

Hi Jeff, yeah please take some snaps, thanks.

I too have just been getting a few bits and pieces here and there. I think they are really good.

As you know the windup and some times battery powered ones are made by Yujin. And i guess your black track made by Epoch?

Do you know if the Yujin and Epoch trains run on each others tracks?

Many Thanks

Darren
