Galaxy Express 999/Tetsudo 999

Mentioned in an earlier post. I saw this gayly colored train about three weeks ago and have tried to take more photos. One of my students, a violin teacher, said that it was painted up because the artist of that Anime, Reiji Matsumoto lives near the city of Nerima, on the Sebu Ikebukuro line. She also said that a number of animators live in the local area and that Nihon University, near Ekoda station, also on this line, has a respected film department with a number of animator graduates.

 

From my experience, the car with the Conductor in front always faces away from Ikebukurao and the car with Maetel in front, heads toward Ikebukuro. When viewed from each side, the same characters appear in the same order, so that one side has them front to back and the other side back to front.
