miyakoji
Just thought I'd post about this rare beast that I was not aware of: sections of JR East's Ou Main Line were apparently regauged to 1435mm in the late '90s for the Yamagata Shinkansen. In addition to the Shinkansen rolling stock, there is also standard-gauged conventional rolling stock running on this line too, specifically the 701-5000 and 701-5500 series. There are some pics out on Wikipedia, in particular: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ou_Honsen_to_Yamagata_Jo_2005-12.jpg Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Don't forget about the 719-5000 Series! One of my favourite modern trains from JR East. Don't know why, but it looks so dull it's cool again. Has a nice ride as well to boost. Source Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
And don't forget the Tazawako Line (Akita Shinkansen route). At Morioka Station(note the kiha 58 peeking out at the edge of the frame): source: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/JR%E6%9D%B1%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC701%E7%B3%BB%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A At Kakunodate Station: http://blogimg.goo.ne.jp/user_image/41/78/90a3c2fda69e5d5e0cb2331c3fd46856.jpg Link to comment
