Nick_Burman
Hi all, Please correct me, but am I right in believing that the GM kit for the Keihan 500/600 series cars (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10007507) will build either a 500 or a 600 or a 260 series car? Cheers NB Link to comment
CaptOblivious
Can't say with certainty, but that seems the correct interpretation of the images to me! Link to comment
Nick_Burman
Thanks. Tomii Tetsudo management is looking for a more modern-looking (for the 1950's-60's) single-unit interurban for express service. And I would like a model of a 260 ever since I saw a pic of it in Wally Higgins's Showa 30's book. It is a very interesting mix (for its time) of the modern (square, clean body) and the ancient (Brill 21E trucks, trolley poles and fenders). Cheers NB Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
You're correct, but bear in mind that a Greenmax "economy kit" is unpainted. You'll have to add the two-tone green (or whatever livery your freelance line sports) yourself. Link to comment
Nick_Burman
Thanks Mudkip, but this is exactly what I'm looking for... I think you'll agree with me that when freelancing it is better to build a kit and then decorate it with one's colours rather than risking repainting ("ruining") a RTR model which might not be available again for a very long time. The railway's colours are the same brown and cream found in the Tetsudo Collection "freelance" "Mule". Were I to finish it in Keihan colours I would choose the red and orange from the 1950's. The two-tone green scheme is nice but make the cars (especially the 600s) look much older than they are. Cheers NB Link to comment
marknewton
And I would like a model of a 260 ever since I saw a pic of it in Wally Higgins's Showa 30's book. The car shown in Wally's book appears to be on Brill 27MCB trucks. But I'm 100% in agreement with you, it's a very attractive-looking car. All the best, Mark. Link to comment
Nick_Burman
Thanks Mark, I typed the message during a work break, my "Brill truck guide" (aka the NWSL catalog) was at home... Cheers NB Link to comment
