Atlas Code 55 track - is it good quality?

I had a look at the Atlas code 55 range. There are a lot of different radii and points available, and of course flextrack.

What about the points - would my Micro Ace locos work on them?

Your experience and advice would be most welcome!

C62 - Here is a link to Micro Engineering track.

It shows all the different codes. A lot of people like this flex track but it is more expensive than Atlas. Peco also makes a code 55 but all they do is take the code 80 and drop in through the ties to made code 55.

I believe new trains will run fine on code 55 it's the older N scales trains that have problems because of their deeper flanges on the wheels. It is harder to work with but the end result looks fantastic! What I would do is see if you can get a piece of the code 55 and test your Mirco Ace on it, but I don't think you'll have any problems.

Tell us how it works out!

Most of my new Microace and Kato stuff has no problems, but older Kato, Tomix and Modemo stuff really doesn't do well on the points.  The Atlas Code 55 switches are fairly accurate, and anything with the gauge a little too tight will bounce over or derail on the frog & guardrails.  I've been able to re-gauge my Modemo and a few of my Tomix models-I've even turned down the flanges on a couple of them to make them work, but honestly I think it's more trouble than it's worth.  If I wanted an all purpose track that I could run almost anything on, I think I'd go with the Peco code 55.
