JR Hokkaido dmu's in Aomori Prefecture?

Every year from the end of April to the end of Golden Week in early May and coinciding with the Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival, JR Hokkaido runs a special ltd. express the Sakura Express consisting of kiha 183 North Rainbow Express stock.  The route is Hakodate-Aomori-Hirosaki.  An ED79 is utilized to pull the trainset for the Hakodate-Aomori section, as the ED79 is ATC equipped for operation in the Seikan Tunnel.  Also it seems that internal combustion units are not allowed to run through the tunnel under their own power.

 

Shot three days ago, but location not stated, I assume outside of Hakodate before Kikonai, the highway is Route 228.
