Some photos of our day at the railway Museum ay Omiya.

Alpine,

How did you like the museum as a place for non-Japanese-speaking-kids-who-love-trains? I'd love to take my daughter there, but my experiences in other museums around Tokyo is that they can be rather spotty in their willingness to provide translations of the interpretive materials.

Everything is not translated, however there is severals things in English and most of the stuffs in the learning center doesn't need to read or speak. You can easily try and look what they are showing you without reading japanese.

Yes - that was my experience too. Almost nothing needed translation. It was very 'visual' and 'hands on' in nature - perfect for kids. The simulator needed some working out but otherwise it was fantastic for kids - expsecially those that already love trains and know a little bit about them.
