They are indeed Enoden line trams. Photos taken on a rainy and misty afternoon on the way to the Giant Buddha in Kamakura.

What's the Super Rail Cargo doing near Saitama/Omiya? Without cars? And lots of Drivers?

Just a guess, but since the Omiya Depot is next door, the unit may have been undergoing testing or final checks after a scheduled maintenance.  On visits to the museum I have seen conventional electric locos moving back and forth on this stretch of track.

I'll go with that too, going by the lack of dirt and grime on the front unit, especially how clean the roof and pantograph is, I'd say it's just out of an overhaul and is going on a test run.

Nice pics!  Although what's with that micro-Shinkansen in the one pic with the Super Rail Cargo?  Cute little thing...

Nice pictures! Are those Enoden trams? Looks like the kid was having a good time...  :grin

Just donned on me, but do we consider Enoden trains themselves to be train cars or trams? This is something that from time to time has puzzled me, but never enough to really give any deep thought to how one would classify ther rolling stock itself. My understanding is that the railway itself runs under Japan's railway operations rules, and is classed as a railroad and not that of a subway or tram line.  :icon_rr:

Not only is the line classified as a railway it also sells through tickets with Odakyu and JR lines, has ATS and other legal characteristics of a Japanese railway including floor level platforms. But the rolling stock is capable of operating over tram like curves.

The N700 at night is particularly brilliant, Alpine. I see at least one shot taken inside of Ueno Station (the 651 Super Hitachi): Any more of those, by any chance?

That's kind of why I asked, cause the rail line seems to blur the line pretty good there.

Like the E4 much? :P

The photos with your son in them are the best, though! He looks so happy!
