bill937ca
HS has been taking reservations for Atomic G scale items for a few weeks. I have finally come across a web site for this company. These trains are battery powered, radio controlled and operate on plastic track which I believe would put them on the toy end of scale. In addition to the European steamer there also is a D51 http://www.atomic-web.com/ http://www.atomic-web.com/european.html http://www.atomic-web.com/d51.html HS items from Atomic. Reservations for the D51 are closed. http://www.1999.co.jp/search_e.asp?Typ1_c=104&scope=1&scope2=0&urikire=1&itkey=Atomic Link to comment

Welshbloke
The European stock looks like copies of LGB models to me. I vaguely recall reading about a Chinese factory which seemed to have cloned some LGB tooling so this might be where Atomic are getting the models from. The large 4-wheel box van is a Swiss metre gauge design - I know as I have a couple of LGB ones which look identical apart from the paintwork! The coaches are German, as is the loco. I don't think the tanker has a specific prototype and the bogie low-sided wagon looks rather similar to some US narrow gauge stock - Bachmann's On30 gondola is a very similar design. I wouldn't mind one of the locos, only snag would be getting it into the UK without being stung for outrageous tax/duty/"admin charges" (a fine levied by Parcelforce against those who dare to buy from outside the UK). Hopefully production will continue and an enterprising dealer will negotiate to become the importer, as at £90 for a R/C G scale loco and £20 or so for wagons they'd sell loads of them.
