Martijn Meerts
I feel more sorry for myself for not being able to buy anything at the moment.. No job == no money (haven't even bought the 300 series shinkansen, even though I've wanted it for a long time ;)) Of course, I'm also very much aware of the limited offerings in the European N-scale market. Not sure what to do when we get to the point where we need build a town/city on my father's layout, not that many decent things on offer... Link to comment
to2leo
Thanks cteno4 for the updates. Just to add, here are the pictures of July release. Centram Beach buildings Urban buildings ( I really like these!) Spot light on buildings (another very good idea!) Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
as well as white, black and silver versions of the portrams https://www.hwjapan.com/sh/TOM2010040602.aspx https://www.hwjapan.com/sh/TOM2010040603.aspx https://www.hwjapan.com/sh/TOM2010040604.aspx Note that the "Centram" branded trams are owned and operated by Chitetsu (Toyama Chiho), and run as a circulator on the opposite side of Toyama Station from the Portram. quinntopia
Great looking building set from Tomytec! Its nice to see some cool diversity in this mix! Of course, I'm also very much aware of the limited offerings in the European N-scale market. Martjin, you should compare the Europe offerings in N to the US offerings! Arghh! In the US N scale market everything is about the period before the 1950's. Modern structures are vitually non-existent. At least Faller, Kibri, and Vollmer occassionally release modern structures and have a decent catalog of items from their past that are post-1960. Although, comparing the HO to N scale offerings of those 3 is also somewhat depressing as well... Of course US train technology doesn't look like we've moved much past the 1960's either, given the Shinkansen's and TGV's that our freinds in Europe, Japan, (etc..) have.... Link to comment
scott
two beach stands Cool! I think they're too big for our beach area, but we could steal an idea or two from those. as well as white, black and silver versions of the portrams Gaaaaah!!! Just when I had talked myself out of trying to do a tram layout! Link to comment
cteno4
well at least you will have the people to do a beach party! tip a large flat/round sequin on a small piece of thin rod makes a great beach umbrella! give up the trams are calling you! cheers jeff Link to comment
westfalen
That brick building on the corner wouldn't look out of place on an American layout. Link to comment

Good idea for an exhibition layout with an eighties beach-party. That'd make a great excuse for having some Italo blasting out of your speakers (or techno/dance for that matter). Link to comment

bill937ca
give up the trams are calling you! You're evil! Evil! :-) Jeff's only mildly evil. Real evil is when you get people to buy $200 castles with $140 shipping (without really trying). :evil4: :fart: Link to comment

cteno4
You're the Evil Overlord. ;-) Jeff is merely your zombie servant. actually i think we are both evil gods of the underworld with different flavors! bill actually is not to blame for the castle as i found that one on my own before he ever emailed me about it. he did send it to me thinking he was going to temp me with it only to find out i had already tempted myself for a week or two... i actually liken us to drug pushers, hey little boy want to play with this cool painted train?! Only problem is we arnt getting a cut of the action! cheers jeff Link to comment
cteno4
my 6 story buildings and the beach kits both showed up today. the 6 story kits are nice. i meant to get A and B and for some reason ordered B and C, doh! the brick building C doesnt look very japanese, but is ok. B is a nice modern building that could be an office or apartment building. you could easily combine two kits and get a 4 story and a 8 story or with some whacking you could create a 10 story out of two kits. beach kits are cute. could also be used as a rural roadside stop as well. cheers jeff Link to comment
quinntopia
I just got my Building A's yesterday as well (this the modern/silver metal looking structure). On the plus side, it's be easy to use the center section from one to make it another 3 stories taller (which was why I ordered two). On the negative side, the windows are just black paint on the plastic...no clear plastic on these for windows. Sort of a surprise as all my other TomyTec buildings have separately applied transparent plastic for windows. Apparently to add interior lighting I'll need to mill out the windows....bummer.
