End of Evangelion

Yeah. I just watched End of Eva. I was terrified. I was stupefied. I was going insane. Now, thanks to that stupid giant robot or whatever it was, I have freakin' nightmares! Sorry for that rant. :cussing: I was hoping for a more resolved look at the last episodes of Evangelion, and that was it.

Anybody else seen Eva? Or have wanted to see Eva?  No offense to people who actually like End of Eva.

I've been out of the anime loops for a long time. Aren't they redoing the movies? Do you mean the original end of eva?

I thought they were darkly terrifying, and therefore perfect. But I also admire the ambiguous schematism of the original final broadcast episode, and found the movies to be an interesting interpretation of them.

Sorry about that weird post. As I was saying, I watched the Original End of Eva, and it was crazy. They are trying to redo the movies, but the reception on them has been anything but.

I am trying to figure what is the general plot of the series, having never watched it.

So Angel is trying to destroy earth and the human race counter that with the angel like cyborg ->Evangelion?  They later found that both angel and human are the same but took on a different type of path by eating the fruit of wisdom vs. fruit of strength from the garden of Eden?

Any clues will be greatly appreciated!

I'm not a fan of the new movies as they added a new eva unit whose design is ugly. the new pilot is not doing anything for me either. Eva has become such a cash cow...

Well, many people don't know, including me. :grin

You are right. Basically what happens is the Evas 00,01, and 02 fight large beings called Angels. As the episodes go on, Anno, (guy who created the series) plunged in to deep depression. The series turned into more of a physiological than a action series.  After the end, Anno created End of Evangelion which provided a more resolved end to the series, but it just opened up a whole new can of worms... So that's why they are redoing the series through diffrent movies.

It can be argued Anno wrote EoE as a giant eff you to the fans who rejected the original shows conclusion.

That always seemed a reasonable theory to me too.

So, I scooted over to Wikipedia to try and figure out what you were talking about... I'm still lost.  The concept sounds interesting, but I miss so much of the sub-text (at least on wikipedia) that I am completely :confused3: lost.

Everyone is. Watch the first couple of episodes, and that will clear some things up.

IDK about watching a few episodes will clear things up. One of my best friends of twenty years, a catholic school grad has watched the series a dozen times and still can't get all the refs in the theology side of the show. It is certainly a very subjective show, and no two people interpret the content the same.

I have the original series on DVD, as well as the 2 additional DVDs they released. I quite liked the series, even if it was confusing at regular intervals ;)

Not so much of my liking... The plot was not very difficult to follow and the characters were too depressing... I'd rather have Ghost in the Shell... :cheesy (sci-fi, futurism, A.I., philosophy, non-emo chicks, etc.)
