Model Railway Shops In Osaka-shi

Where are any of the actual model train shops in Osaka? Preferably ones near the Midosuji Line or Shinosaka?

I don't know if these are in the exact locations of interest, but I am aware of these places through the internet.

 

This shop is along the Kintetsu.  There are instructions for getting there by train from JR Tennoji Station.

At the bottom of the home page (just above the yellow logo) there is a list of four other train shops with links to their web sites, including a model shop near Shin-Osaka station five floors up with a view of Shinkansens (if the translated page can be trusted). Looks like limited hours.

Thanks Bill, that's a big help. Will look in to it in more detail this weekend, and try to map my route out to it. Tenoji is an easy hit from the Midosuji Line.

Don't forget:

 

Tam tam/Hobidas, Amagasaki.

Poppondetta under the pedestrian overbridge in Den Den Town.

There's also another railway store opposite it towards Tennoji.

Then you have Joshin, Level 4, on the same street.

Yodoyabashi Camera at Umeda Station (next to the freight yards)

 

And an awesome card/paper modeller near uehommachi (kintetsu) station. If interested (lots of HO models and other random 2nd hand N in tiny store) then I can get the exact location for you.

Temporary closing for business trip March 18th-23rd.

Hello! Just wondering, I'm headed to Osaka on Friday, and I only have time to visit one railway shop, as dictated by my fiancee (boo). Which one should I go to?

 

I can't find the map anymore for the Osaka shops...

For me the best one was the Hobbyland Pochi shop located near Umeda. But it's only second hand and only good for train sets. In this area, the only place for new items (mostly train sets and rails) is the Yodobashi Camera.

 

If not go to Namba (Denden town). You have three hobby shops (Volks, Popondetta and the second Pochi) in a 50m radius.

Yey for Den Den Town.

Fat Al, make sure, if you are returning to Namba Nankai Station, that you do visit Poppondetta.

Be careful though, most of these shops open around 10-11am (or even midday for Poppondetta!)

There's a Tamtam along with the largest model railroad layout in West Japan just minutes away from Osaka by train.

There's no way I'll be able to leave Namba, Leo, let alone Osaka. It's her birthday shopping trip, unfortunately. I'm a slave to her wants and needs.

Don't really consider price in terms of hobby shop selection, coz HO is seldom discounted much anyway, and any stock on hand is appreciated.  Mach Mokei did have "new old stock" Kato kiha 65 units at 20% off though.

 

Yes, the Kasuga was one I regret never having taken a ride on.  Though back when I was a junior high school student in the early eighties, I did take a trip on the Kansai Main Line with my cousin, and I believe the train we caught at Kameyama was a kiha 58 unit, though I don't remember if it was a named express.  Another memory was riding a 103 series unit into Minatomachi Station (the current JR Nanba Sta.) when the station was still an above ground affair with atmosphere:

I planed to visit TamTam in Amagasaki but just found out that they closed. However, they opened a new store in Kobe. Is it a large store? Or should I take a Shinkansen and head back to Tokyo/Akihabara for shopping?
