Mudkip Orange
China sold off about 35 billion in treasuries in December, which means JAPAN is once again the largest US foreign debtholder. http://www.zerohedge.com/article/move-over-china-beijing-sells-whopping-342-billion-treasuries-december-japan-becomes-largest Man, the 80's feel good again, don't they? Time to pull out those Duran Duran cassette tapes... Link to comment

Mudkip Orange
explain plz. What does debt have to do w/ anime? The Simpsons. There's a Simpsons episode in which the newscaster sees an ant in a spaceship Homer is aboard, concludes that the earth is about to be taken over by a master race of giant ants, and says "I for one welcome our new insect overlords." The line has since become a catchphrase, search google for "I welcome our overlords" (without the quotes) and you'll see what I mean. Since Japan is now once again our largest holder of foreign debt, that makes them the de facto largest foreign influence with regard to US monetary policy (remember all the fretting of a few years back about how "china owns us now"). My usage of the term "anime" was as shorthand for Japan in general, an analogy if you will, of the form ANIME:JAPAN::INSECT:MASTER RACE OF GIANT ANTS I could've just as easily said "I for one welcome our new samurai overlords" or "I for one welcome our new ninja overlords" or "I for one welcome our new Shinkansen overlords," or some other Japanese stereotype/archetype. But I chose anime. Now what does that tell you about me? Link to comment

Mudkip Orange
FLCL Although I'm still trying to get my girl to dress up as Asuka Langley in bed. Probably'll be awhile on that one... Link to comment
NozomiFan
IT was a bad acid trip on the last 3 episodes. The artist/director person was extremely depressed and the series was running out of money. Link to comment

Hmmm, just starting to do an FLCL rerun today :) But don't give up on your holy goal man! However, don't let her become like Asuka, I've met one or two girls who are quite like her and believe me: not fun when you get to know such a person better. Very oppressive... Better go for the Rei type, self concious, sweet and not so destructive. Maybe she'll even cook you dinner! Link to comment
