They broke the book up into smaller chunks as the full book is 205 pages. They have 5 in the series, so perhaps they broke it into 4 pieces and one is a supplemental edition. These were available a few years ago, but you were unable to buy them outside japan. I didnt try to click on the buy link as many amazon digital stuff are one click buys and i already have the book. Sadly it’s out of print in book format as it’s a very nice book to just pick up and thumb thru, not sure as much fun on an ipad or worse a kindle to browse.

All the chunks are available on Amazon Japan kindle unlimited.  I’ve had kindle unlimited subscriptions at times when there’s been a signup offer and there’s quite a lot of good railway stuff including RM magazine and a lot of photo books.

Yes, they are always a oval. Found this https://www.youtube.com/@mito126evzio7/videos

I watched one of the videos on that channel showing layouts designated Z01, Z05, etc.  They were fairly large, expensive, and had a lot going on.  I’ve got a few DMU sets but don’t have a layout as I don’t have much room and even less imagination.  These videos could be a risk.  In particular, several of the layouts featured a small building that Tomix called ‘railway administrative office’ if I recall correctly, which looks so much like the mid to late JNR era structures all over the JR West hinterlands where I lived.  I loved those damned buildings.

Well most all the layouts are under 1mx2m in size which is not very big, large door size and many are pretty small layouts. He is very good at packing a lot into a small space so that does mean more track and switches than simple roundy roundies and usually promotes places to do buildings a lot that can add to the price. It is good to get you thinking out of the basic old layout designs, especially in smaller layouts.

The book sketches are much nicer to look at and think about than the 3D renders this other chap did. Keeping things a bit sketch like helps you to visualize better than the fully rendered scenes do IMHO. Love the book to just flip thru now and then and look at track plans and think of why what works and ways to shove in more scenery and not sacrifice track if possible. Good lessons at various ideas of types of layout designs and helping to see the pros and cons of each easily.

station at the front, depot in an out and back loop but the dual track main line descends on a helix (supports made of LEGO) 700mm to the floor where it does a loop to turn the train from up main to down main. The aim is to send of trains from the station and have them pop back up again after a suitable interval.

She’s got some interesting wiring ideas that I haven’t seen before as well.
