Giugiaro
Good evening! I'm looking for an Australian manufacturer, or another, of model railway trees that makes native plant species. I need trees or leaves for the Tasmanian blue gum, or Eucalyptus Globulus, a species that has basically taken over Portugal and is necessary for proper modern landscaping. I'm aware that Welberg Scenery makes the WB-SDEG, corresponding to the shrub phase of the tree, but nothing more than that. Link to comment
Junech
Needed to google the trees first... But my guess would be that most manufacturers won't name a specific tree species to start with... so going for a tree that looks closest to the trees you want would be the best option. Additionally, to that point, is depending on the scale: Can you really tell all the differences between trees? Points like: Do you need the actual shape of the leaves, or is a rough color match of standard leaves enough? Otherwise, looking at Google, the trunks look different between the trees in image search... so some pictures of which one of those will fit the trees you're looking for would help. Link to comment
Cat
That was an easy google: https://www.auscisionmodels.com.au/Australian Trees.htm Link to comment
Giugiaro
I was already aware of Auscicion Models, but was looking for other overlooked players in the field. If this is all I have to work with, I will send in an email to see what kind of leaf material they use. I'm already seeing that I will have to make my how tree structures to match what we usually have here. Link to comment
Cat
A couple of others at the top of the google hit parade: https://www.australianmodeltrees.com/ https://www.willjamesrailways.com/australian-model-trees Link to comment
Damo Jr.
As above, try Will Jame's YouTube as he does a monthly report on the Australian mdoel railway scene, and he has reported on trees. You could look up some of the clubs and email them. Pretty sure they'd be happy to help. I haven't modeled Australian for a long time and don't have much of a clue! Link to comment
VJM
Get them from Will James. Saw his trees last weekend. They are very good. Auscision's tree products were released over 10 years ago and I don't think they've had another run, so they are effectively out of stock. 1 Link to comment
