Does anyone have any more detail on how the system works? The article says that the train driver will trigger them, so are they coming from speakers on the train itself? I guess having a button close enough to the cab to reach out and press it isn't practical, and they must have decided against using a remote control for some reason too. The technology to play a different melody per station isn't exactly rocket surgery either, so I would guess there is some cost saving and erring on the side of caution going on here. 2 Link to comment
cteno4 Posted Monday at 06:27 PM Share Posted Monday at 06:27 PM I would assume they did not want to give the driver another task at the same time they took away the conductor, not good safety to sharing staff and add task to remaining worker. guessing its just not worth the cost of automation and maintenance of a new system. jeff Link to comment
