Hey all!

After lurking for a while I finally made an account. I had HO-scale trains growing up, but now that I live in a big city and space is at a premium, I've decided to begin my N-scale journey! I mostly enjoy passenger railroading, and since models of Canadian prototypes are either hard to come by or expensive (often both) Japanese N-scale seems like a good choice. I'd like to get into T-Trak and maybe build an urban layout one day! Hopefully my co-op work term at uni can pay for it all 😅

If anyone knows any clubs in the GTA with members who are into Japanese N-scale, please let me know!

Looking forward to chatting with everyone and posting about my own trains and layout one day!

Welcome @concordski, glad you found us and have come out from the shadows! Japanese N scale does help a lot providing a great bang for the buck as well as a fantastic selection of trains and train types. Ttrak is a great way to get started, especially with a club as it lets you work and learn on small bits at a time before jumping into a layout. Fun way to play with others as well. Even with just a module or two you can still set up at home with a loop of track and just elevate the other tracks with some cardboard risers.

Looking forward to seeing your adventures into japanese N scale!

cheers,

jeff

Welcome! I'm also from the GTA. The Scarborough Model Railroaders club has a couple members that are interested in Japanese/Chinese locomotives. I unfortunately am not a member or associate yet due to financial priorities, but when I went to their last open house I did see an E6 Shinkansen on their N-scale layout and some Chinese locomotives on their HO layout. Additionally there are a few members who work at Rapido Trains in Markham and Aurora Miniatures.

They're based in a small building near Birchmount and Danforth: https://scarborough-model-railroaders.org/loom/

And another welcome from Western Canada this time. Careful though, Japanese trains are addicting.

Cheers eh,
