There is a five-part series of photos on the Greenmax store blog going into sanding, assembly and painting. Tomix rails fit, for Kato rails you have to raise the base with sheet foam or balsa to allow for the track base.

Very impressive instructions, with cool links to tools and other interesting things.  Also the use of rubber cement for some parts.

Ive found glues like e6000 tends to function a bit better than rubber cement for those situations where you want a tad of give possible and also removal if needed [you can pick it off most stuff like rubber cement]. For clear plastics i use canopy glue, sort of like a blend of e6000 and a pva and it does not fog any clear plastics and pretty invisible.
