CKS1
Hello. Another Japanese railway tragic. My addiction started in the early 2000's with several visits to Japan. We (with my wife's approval) purchased some trains with the intention of displaying them statically since I had no idea about the model railway gig (I have constructed plastic kits and collect diecast aircraft). My civil diecast aircraft collection revolves around the aircraft/airlines I’ve travelled with. I recently retired and figured a train layout would be good to utilise the above collected trains, I've volunteered my young daughter to help me out and so far she hasn't "kicked" or "screamed"!! We are both very much in the learning stage. On our previous visits we’ve collected several Shinkansen; 300 series, N700, E2 Hayate, plus several more, NEX, DD51etc. The collection revolves around what train services we have travelled on. We’re off to Japan late next month for the first time in over a decade and we’re really looking forward to the trip, it will be my daughters first trip overseas. We plan on purchasing some track etc for the layout. I’m looking forward to reviewing all the information contained within this forum. Hopefully I won’t be too much of a pain and ask too many questions. Have a good one chat soon. Cheers. 7 Link to comment

Lessigen
That's a wonderful way to add to your collection. When I finally get to go to Japan, that's also my plan - getting each train that I ride on as a model train set. 🙂 1 Link to comment

MrLinderman
Welcome CKS, Plenty of Aussies on here so please ask away and if you need help one of us might even be local to you Love how you collected based on what you rode while in Japan. Would highly recommend looking at some of the threads on the forum regarding where to visit and shop, and if your starting out maybe have a think about what size layout you want to start with and consider if one of the Tomix or Kato "starter" kits might be a good place to start from 1 Link to comment
