Little-Kinder
Had some issues with tgv picking up power. It was the little things between the motor and bogies Fixed it and running like it usually did I will try a 30 car run (which isn't real obviously but it's fun). Will also mix the tgv parts to have a multicolor one. I just wish Kato produced the yellow la poste TGV (only 5 of those ever) Link to comment
Little-Kinder Posted yesterday at 05:40 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 05:40 AM (edited) Went to the Kato Hobby center this week end because there was a club doing a demonstration. Managed to run my 30 cars long TGV combo on the kato layout, When i receive the Inoui one I will try 40 long. Yes it's useless but it's fun Now for the club, it's the RFC club, from what i understood they try to run trains in a realistic manner, they reproduced several trains lines including shinkansen one, with all the stations from tokyo to osaka and run trains like it's a normal day but it takes place in 25 mn. Wasn't aware people did this so this was interesting to see, they had like 20 people working on it at the same time Edited yesterday at 05:40 AM by Little-Kinder 2 Link to comment
Kingmeow Posted yesterday at 02:21 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:21 PM Awesome second video! First time I've seen an ops session in Japan. I've seen ops sessions in the US but all freight and never any with passenger trains. With freight they deliver and switch cars and not just go from point A to point B. I noticed the giant fast clock in the back. It looks like they are running Digitrax DCC seeing that people are holding various Digitrax throttles. I would love to participate as I can throw my Digitrax throttle in my luggage when I go and visit Japan. 🙂 Link to comment

Kingmeow Posted yesterday at 02:45 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:45 PM I was about to add if I bring my own Digitrax throttle, can I participate? 🙂 How often does RFC run these sessions at the Kato Hobby Center? Maybe they will have one in October when I visit. 😁 Isn't Ikebukuro DC only? Maybe I'll bring a small train from the US, maybe Amtrak or even a freight train! 😎 Link to comment
cteno4 Posted yesterday at 06:30 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:30 PM Wow! Thats a serious operations club! Wonderful that Kato station gives them the room to do these setups. I wonder if Kato stores some of their stuff there on site for these setups? Really great thing to have going on for the store. jeff Link to comment

Also, if you look out the windows in the background you'll realize it's on an upper floor but the retail space is on the ground floor (with a second floor mezzanine) so it's not in the store per se. My first thought was that they have upper floor meeting space(s) for these kind of things. How awesome is that? Run some trains, maybe an ops session with friends, then head on down the street for some fantastic sushi or a hot bowl of ramen. Life would be good! 🤣 Link to comment

Something like a meeting room idk. Usually the events are on the second floor behind the rental HO layout and it's hidden by movable panels. Curious why it was different this time Link to comment
