Parramatta Light Rail

The Parramatta Light Rail line opened today. I thought I would check (using anytrip.com.au) what speeds were being attained on the section that was converted from the previous heavy rail line to Carlingford. How pleasantly surprised I was to see what must be Australia's fastest trains (high speed rail has finally arrived?) They might be making a claim for the world's fastest trams, perhaps.

Wow I can imagine the folks hanging onto the straps on the acceleration and decelerations that must be needed for those close stations to keep those speeds up! More like a roller coaster I expect.

They are so fast that the very first tram left 10 minutes before it's scheduled time, my son was amongst the first passengers to take a trip on it from Westmead to Carlingford.
