scott
The Kato and Tomix Minobu-line 115s are red with the white midline stripe. I found a listing for a Micro Ace 455 in "Hokuriku Original Color" -- and it's red with a white midline stripe. Is there any real difference in these liveries, or was this a common and widespread paint scheme? Part of my reason for asking is that I'm wondering if one can masquerade as the other. qwertyaardvark
As far as colors go, the two are exactly the same: Red number 2 and Cream number 10. The Minobu color came out in 1981 where the red represented the Red wine grapes from Koushuushi and the white represented snow from the Mt. Fuji. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%9B%BD%E9%89%84115%E7%B3%BB%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A I've only come across information saying in 1985 "Old Hokuriku Colors" were adopted for the 415 series and other rolling stock on this line. In another article for the 419 series, the colors were stated to have been changed to "Hokuriku Local Colors" in 1985 during a renovation of trains to both AC-DC. No luck in finding when the livery were first used. "New Hokuriku Colors" didnt appear until 1988-ish. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%9B%BD%E9%89%84457%E7%B3%BB%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%9B%BD%E9%89%84419%E7%B3%BB%E3%83%BB715%E7%B3%BB%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A Similar colors found on Hokuriku Railway MOHA 2200 Type car in nearby Fukui prefecture dating to 1956. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%8C%97%E9%99%B8%E9%89%84%E9%81%93%E3%83%A2%E3%83%8F2200%E5%BD%A2%E9%9B%BB%E8%BB%8A Link to comment
scott
Thanks! I'm not too worried about timing--as long as I have the place right, I don't mind a few anachronisms. Otherwise life gets too complicated and expensive. :-) Sorry for not picking up on this, but--are the "New Hokuriku Colors" the plum/tan scheme, or the white with medium-blue stripe, or....? qwertyaardvark
Glad to be of service :) The New Hokuriku colors consist of "Oyster White" base coat and "Cobalt Blue" belt. 475 Series 419 Series Link to comment
scott
Cool--thanks! You beat me to it--I was just about to post the following, but you had already answered. :-) Oh, hold on--I think I got it. One of the plum/tan ones was labelled "Kagoshima," and I found a white/blue scheme on a "Hokuriko Line" page. Link to comment
qwertyaardvark
As always, glad to help! For some reason, i get excited when I see a request that can be answered by the Jap wiki~ You beat me to it--I was just about to post the following, but you had already answered. :-) There are many a days I think I spend too much time on this forum... On the weekends I literally refresh the "Unread Topics" page every hour or so while I work on my layout on the table beside my laptop. ^^;; Link to comment
marknewton
Similar colors found on Hokuriku Railway MOHA 2200 Type car in nearby Fukui prefecture dating to 1956. A page showing these and other cars of the Hokuriku Railway running in Kanazawa during the 50s and 60s. http://6.fan-site.net/~haasan55/kanazawasinai.htm The car shown was originally Hokuriku Railway 2202. She survives, and has been returned to Kanazawa to undergo an extensive restoration: http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~tsk-1803/kanazawa.htm Cheers, Mark. Link to comment
