Hey all!

Been awhile since I posted, but I just received a Kato Shiki-Shima off eBay today, listed as mint condition.  It arrived and the power car looked like this.  Anyone know how to remove the shell or any other way I can fix this?

Kato's power cars usually consist of trucks powered by drive shafts.

Looks like you are missing the drive shaft (usually white color).  You can get a new truck with drive shaft.  Or I *think* just the drive shaft.

To put things back, you just insert the drive shaft into the motor flywheel while not having the other end come out of the truck.  Then align the truck over the big hole in the car and push the truck into the car.  It just snaps back in.

This removal and re-insertion is common if you are adding a DCC decoder so the truck is meant to be user removeable with ease.

Perfect.  After some searching I found the driveshaft in the bottom of the bookcase (black in color so blended in).  I disassembled the car and was able to slot it back in as you described. Thanks a bunch!

It's also not unusual for them to roll under the urethane. Always good to check carefully around the box before looking for spares.

A popped out motor bogie is not a rare occurrence and it's good to learn how to put them back.

Glad you found the part and was able to easily pop it back in.  Sorry about the color false lead.  All the ones I've seen were while.  I guess Kato can make them whatever color they want.  🤣
