I'm a long time model railroader, primarily European prototypes with most of my fleet in HO, but I did manage to amass a decent Z scale collection over the years.  I recently decided to part with Z, and I used some of the funds to acquire a Kato Allegra set.  Wow!  The Allegra set really blew me away, and I've been super impressed with it so far.  I liked the looks of Z scale, but it was way too fiddly - always needed tweaking to keep the locos running.

I have an HO layout right now, but I am planning some T Track modules for the Kato trains.  I anticipate eventually moving and downsizing, and the N scale T Track seems the way to go for me.  I've acquired the Bernina Express sets along with another loco or two.

I am a huge DCC fan too, so I started a DCC conversion for the Allegra based on some online conversion guides.  I've attached a photo of the unpowered end trailer with a decoder in place and wired to the track pickups.  I am using the ESU LokPilot 5 Fx micro - that's one tiny decoder!

Hope that's not too much information!  Glad to be here!

Welcome @GeneW, glad you found us! Not too much info at all, it’s great to get a sense early on about new members and what their interests are (why we have a whole forum for it!). Sounds like N and Ttrak will be the fit for your downsizing. Lots of folks here doing that and lots of DCC discussions, so we will welcome you joining in on those. Start a topic on your modules as they come together its always interesting to see what folks do and their approach to scenes and stuff.

cheers,

Welcome!   I need to  get an Allegra one of these days.  I have a bunch of the loco hauled RhB stuff but no Allegra.   I've never ridden the real RhB but I find it an interesting topic for my German/Swiss/Austrian/European side.  Thanks for the motivation and the DCC pic!  Always love seing how people put decoders in.

In your pic I see light pipes on the left but no LEDs or other lights to drive them?  Did you take a light board out to do your conversion?
