Surprise Trip to Japan in November

Just out of curiosity I did some searching on the interweb for the model and it seems to still be available - in Australia!  One site seemed to indicate that it had seven of them.  Not for me but if anyone wants one there it is.

I got the kit when it first came out and they provided a sheet of masking material and a template of the mask bits and it required cutting them all out! Later it shipped with die cut mask piece.

Even with die cut, that's a lot of masks to apply.  A test of one's patience!  😲

Yes plus the fact I have to hand cut my masks! Why it’s on the shelf for now.

Thanks Tony.  Would be neat, but the last thing I need is to add to my collection of unmade kits lol.  Also not sure how I could fit it in.

I don’t know the context since your quote was just the word “cost” but is it related to tax free purchases?  Or at stores that have the discount for Visa (or similar) for tourists?   Yodobashi used to have a discount like that but it was gone last time I was there but Joshin still had it last time I was there.  As an example.  I’ve seen it at other stores.

Sorry about the cryptic "Cost", that was reference to my bullet list of observations.  The 10% was applied to both cash and CC purchases, and included both 'stuff' (a hat, models, some towels, some souvenirs) and services (some hotels and meals).  Without doing a full analysis of my receipts I can't really tell why I got it on some but not others for the same types of purchases.

All the CC discounts I've seen and experienced were 5%.

 

The only thing that resembles 10% is the removal of VAT but that's only if a) the merchant participates b) you spend more than ¥5000 (typical) and c) you show a passport of some sorts.

 

It would be interesting to figure it out.
