Louisp38
I bought the Kato Silver Streak Zephyr M1. I looked at what size is needed for an interesting layout. Most layouts I saw was on a 2 x 4. So I bought the plywood 3 1/2 X 4 ft. I guess a little nieve. When looking at the track, it is a very basic oval. Can I make it more interesting layout. My question is what can I do with this little space? I like bridges and maybe run a couple of trains. Link to comment
bill937ca
Kato does have some add-on sets, but you are now restricted by the size of your plywood. Do want to change that? You can add sidings (at a station), perhaps some bridges over rivers or over another line. With enough space you could create a figure-eight layout and taking that further make it double track. The center could then provide space for a few sidings. https://www.unitrack-kato.com/line-up-electric-turntable-1 Link to comment
Kingmeow
Here are a few 2' x 4' layouts to give you some ideas. The guy uses Atlas tracks so not exactly Unitrack but you can probably easily adapt them to use Unittrack. http://www.cke1st.com/m_train2.htm#doorplan Link to comment
Mister Gee
This guy uses a lot of Unitrack: Link to comment
Ekiben
Lots of options and ideas available from the Kato track plan site. I agree that buying Kato add-ons/variation packs is a good way to go. There is also a pamphlet that comes with most Kato sets that shows some possibilities. You may also want to try using shorter rolling stock since these tend to look better on smaller layouts with shorter radius curves. I look forward to seeing your progress. Link to comment
