, only to discover that there was a Gudetama train made at one stage and a TomyTec N scale version!

You mean this one?  I don't remember where I got it but its been on the shelf a while...  Somewhere I have the motor unit and wheels and stuff for it.  I'm pretty sure it's one of those things I happen to see at Joshin Denki Super Kids Land in Osaka and bought it unplanned.

yes @chadbag that's the one! I saw it while browsing HobbyOff, I think, in Akibahara on my last day.

Anyway, I'm still coming very much down to earth back home now. But Here's a pic of the model train loot I picked up on this trip. Budget spent 😛

Highlights:

the Micro-Ace 115 in Onomichi yellow. I really hope they keep this livery running there.

Tomytec Tetsudou collection Shimabara two-car set (and a motor unit to suit)

Kyoto Kato store little pocket line SL set

A Tomix EF210 to make a goods train

A bunch of Tomix container wagons and containers

The Tama Densha B-Train shorty and power kit (and a random b-train kit)

Kato CV-1 kit and a pocket line controller so I can make a little display oval loop

A few N-scale people on bikes and people looking at their phones 😄

I bought a bunch of other train-related merch too. I'm slightly annoyed that some of the cool t-shirts, like one featuring the 381-series trains were only available in a size that was slightly too small. Motivation to lose those next few kilos I guess.
