bc6
I could use a really small DCC decoder for my Kiya97 loco and N scale is not small enough. Can someone recommend a Z-scale decoder, please? Link to comment
bill937ca
I don't do DCC, but looking elsewhere I see "TCS Z2 is considered Z because of its small physical size". Be careful of max voltage which could be 9 volts. https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=38362.0 Edited September 21 by bill937ca Link to comment
Dani
One of the smallest decoders I have used is Doehler Haass PD05A-3: (https://shop.decoders.es/de-locomotora/c,77,cables/doehler-haass-pd05a-3.html) 1 Link to comment
Kingmeow
I've done it many times before. Not an issue. The electrical specs are usually unchanged (1 amp) but double check the decoder you will eventually use. I have used many Digitrax DZ123. It was the smallest and only one back then. It's still available but there is now a more featured version, the DZ126. Price is only $2 more so I would go with the DZ126. https://www.digitrax.com/products/mobile-decoders/dz123/ https://www.digitrax.com/products/mobile-decoders/dz126/ For the ultimate in small size from Digitrax, take a look at the DZ126T, T for Tiny! 😄 https://www.digitrax.com/products/mobile-decoders/dz126t/ Since you are in the US it'll be very easy for you to source Digitrax stuff. bc6
@bill937ca Thanks for the suggestion I'll check out TCS. @Dani That Decoder looks really expensive. @Kingmeow Thank you I think I have a DIGITRAX DZ126T and that's not even small enough for my application lol but I think I could shoe horn it in place. chadbag
Zimo makes a really small one or so: MX615 and MX616 and they are available at sbs4dcc.com in the US (and other Zimo dealers). I've used an MX615 once IIRC. They're not cheap. But worth it in the big scheme of things if you're going for smart, compact, out of the way installs (and full of features). The D&H PD05A are nice but I don't think there are US based dealers, unlike Zimo. I got my PD05A from Germany from DM-Toys and some other dealers. The MX615 is about the same size as the PD05A. The Zimo is slightly smaller. Link to comment
